Fahren - peeved

So this here is Fahren, who figures in one of my stories as Kai's partner. She's not the typical sweetness-and-lace unicorn of your childhood. I hate that version of unicorns. For one thing, I don't like the idea of unicorns that are some sort of milk-and-honey sweetness beastie that you wind roses in its mane and speak baby talk to. Nu-uh. Give me Pliny's description: "He is never caught alive; killed he may be, but taken he cannot be" any day! I want my unicorns to be fierce and protective, warriors of a proud lineage. They still have the whole unicorns-are-holy effect, but its awe-inspiring, not insipid. Unicorns would probably be highly sarcastic if you had a converation with one. I'm also obsessed with the idea that unicorns come in colors, not just your normal white. Halcyon's my white unicorn, Fahren's my maroon-amber bay with white socks unicorn. She's quite a bit of fun. Fahren is also on the shaggy side, just to emphasize the fact that she's a warrior and not just there for decoration and spouting oracles and stepping on rose petals and kissing babies. yecch!

And you have to thank for this, she's been bugging me to draw her for months now!
The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is her eye color. I made three different versions (gold, violet and blue) and they're in my scraps if you want to see them, but decided to stick with blue for now.
